C&IH will participate in the upcoming 2024 Annual Meeting for the Society of Risk Analysis (SRA) being held in Austin, Texas on December 8 through 12. Director of Research and Development, Dr. Andrey Korchevskiy will give a presentation called “Non-linearity in cancer dose-response relationship: the role of exposure duration and evidence of threshold.” The presentation will address the role of exposure duration in cancer dose-response relationship for asbestos and crystalline silica. The following excerpt describing the presentation is taken from the 2024 SRA Annual Meeting website: “The duration of exposure plays an important role in the level of cancer risk. The exposure to a high concentration of carcinogens during a short period can cause a higher level of cancer than chronic low-level exposure. However, the dose-response curve also demonstrates a possible presence of threshold by cumulative exposure. Understanding of two trends (i.e., non-linearity by duration, and threshold by exposure intensity) can help explain the epidemiological data for various types of cancer.” A complete description with additional details is available on the
conference website. The presentation will be given on Tuesday, December 10 at 4 p.m. in Room 201-202.
Dr. Korchevskiy is a board-certified toxicologist (DABT) and a certified industrial hygienist (CIH). His biography is available here.
