The Environmental Research Journal Publishes Paper with C&IH Contributions on Elongate Mineral Particles

The Environmental Research Journal published a paper titled, “Excitable Systems: A New Perspective on the Cellular Impact of Elongate Mineral Particles” which included contributions from C&IH Director of Research and Development, Dr. Andrey Korchevskiy.  The paper investigates how the geometry of elongate mineral particles (EMPs) in contact with cells influences esotaxis, a recently discovered mechanism of texture sensing.  The paper explores new ideas on a mechanism of cellular reaction to EMPs that can help explain the toxicology of mesothelioma, with potential risk assessment and clinical implications.  A full abstract along with access to the paper is available through the publisher’s website: Excitable systems: A new perspective on the cellular impact of elongate mineral particles – ScienceDirect.
