C&IH specializes in toxicological evaluations of various occupational and environmental hazards.
Our team of scientists has a unique ability to perform and interpret toxicological studies with consideration of specific client needs related to the health of workers and communities. C&IH has experience in toxicological assessments covering a wide range of particles including nanoparticles, elongate mineral particles and silica, gases, fumes, mists, vapors including semi-volatile and volatile organic compounds, ethylene oxide, metals, and other agents.
C&IH has unique expertise performing toxicological evaluations for emerging chemical hazards when limited information is available. Our team can apply quantitative-structure activity relationship (QSAR) modeling and other approaches to test unknown or not well studied compounds. For unique, previously under-studied hazards, along with well-known toxic agents, we use state-of-the-art methodologies to evaluate and determine potency factors, unit risks, reference doses, and reference concentrations. C&IH has extensively published in leading toxicological journals, edited and authored books, and developed reference documents on toxicological assessment of existing and emerging toxicants.
Projects involving industrial hygiene, toxicology, and risk assessment are managed by C&IH staff with advanced degrees and educational backgrounds in toxicology, chemistry, biochemistry, mathematical modeling, mineralogy, and other areas. Our project teams are a collaboration of C&IH personnel that includes PhD scientists, board-certified toxicologists (DABTs), certified industrial hygienists (CIHs), and allied occupational health physicians specializing in toxicology.
