The
International Journal of Toxicology and Risk Assessment published a paper by C&IH’s
Dr. Andrey Korchevskiy, Arseniy Korchevskiy, and
Dr. Ann Wylie. The paper, “Reconstruction of Lung Concentrations for Elongate Mineral Particles with Asbestiform and Non-Asbestiform Habit,” compares how asbestiform fibers and non-asbestiform cleavage fragments behave once deposited in lung tissue, finding that asbestiform fibers are retained far more readily and carry substantially higher mesothelioma risk per unit of lung dose.
